In fact, this organization was so early stage that our client was tasked with building the IT organization from the ground up. Based on his previous experience, he knew that he would need to establish the basic processes needed to ensure his team understood the business\u2019 needs and met those needs in a timely manner.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:279}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">To help him achieve this goal, we established foundational concepts and processes to help build the IT team, help the IT team identify its highest-priority initiatives, and report on the progress of those initiatives to senior leadership. In doing so, we helped our client build and organize his own department, prove the effectiveness of his team, and ultimately meet the organizational expectations set upon him.<\/span><\/p><h4>1. Clarified Basic Project Management Processes &amp; Expectations<\/h4><p><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW64351413 BCX8\">Given that this organization<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW64351413 BCX8\"> was <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW64351413 BCX8\">still a startup<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW64351413 BCX8\">, <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW64351413 BCX8\">we needed to <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW64351413 BCX8\">establish<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW64351413 BCX8\"> core, foundational processes to help the IT team<\/span> <span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW64351413 BCX8\">identify<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW64351413 BCX8\"> and complete important IT initiatives<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW64351413 BCX8\">. <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW64351413 BCX8\">To start, <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW64351413 BCX8\">w<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW64351413 BCX8\">e<\/span> <span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW64351413 BCX8\">defined the concept of a project, <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW64351413 BCX8\">rolled out basic project management training materials, and <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW64351413 BCX8\">instituted basic tools to enable <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW64351413 BCX8\">project manage<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW64351413 BCX8\">rs<\/span> <span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW64351413 BCX8\">to communicate pr<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW64351413 BCX8\">oject progress, as well as key risks and issues<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW64351413 BCX8\">.<\/span><\/p><h4>2. Extended Hands-on Support to Project Managers &amp; Project Teams<\/h4><p><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW164514595 BCX8\">To reinforce the <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW164514595 BCX8\">processes and expectations <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW164514595 BCX8\">established<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW164514595 BCX8\">, w<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW164514595 BCX8\">e <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW164514595 BCX8\">f<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW164514595 BCX8\">ollowed up with project managers on a weekly basis, as needed, to ask questions about their project management artifacts to ensure <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW164514595 BCX8\">adherence and adoption<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW164514595 BCX8\">.<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW164514595 BCX8\"> In doing so, we were able to <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW164514595 BCX8\">coach and advise project manage<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW164514595 BCX8\">rs, helping them to improve their skillset and ensuring that project progress was being reported accurately and consistently across the board<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW164514595 BCX8\">.<\/span><\/p><h4>3.
